The CSM Lady Orediggers took to the court on Saturday evening in Silver City, New Mexico seeking their fourth consecutive victory and what would be their longest winning streak of the season. With the help of a balanced offensive effort, Mines succeeded in taking down the Western New Mexico Mustangs by a score of 79-70.
The No. 11 School of Mines men’s basketball team (21-3, 17-3 in the RMAC) took their show on the road Friday to Las Vegas, New Mexico and walked away with a 77-69 victory. With five players in double figures on the night, Mines grinded out the eight point victory.
The thirteenth-ranked Colorado School of Mines men’s basketball team welcomed the visiting Black Hills State into their home arena on Valentine’s Day and presented the Yellow Jackets with a 21 point defeat. Four Orediggers scored in double figures on the night and Junior Brian Muller eclipsed 1000 career points in the 73-52 victory. Muller is the second this year (Wages) and third on the team (Green) to surpass 1000 career points.
Shortly after the Lady Orediggers took down Chadron State last Saturday evening, the No. 13 ranked men’s team looked to do the same on Senior Night. In one of their best offensive performances of the season, CSM did just that, defeating the Eagles 104-72. Just one night after Brian Muller hit the 1000 point mark for his career, Senior Luke Meisch looked to surpassed the mark as well, needing only four points to also reach the 1000 point plateau.
Seeking their fifth straight win since the heartbreaking loss to Metro State, the Orediggers looked to keep building up momentum with a win over the RMAC’s worst team, the Western New Mexico Mustangs. As one would expect, the 11th ranked Mines squad easily dismantled the one-win Mustangs by a wide margin, 90-58.
Only a day after their heartbreakingly close loss to Metro State, the Lady Oredigger basketball team took to the court on Saturday night trying to rebound and pull off a win against Regis, but fell in another tight contest 66-63.
In front of a near capacity crowd of close to 2,000, the No. 11 Colorado School of Mines men’s basketball team hosted No. 1 ranked Metro State Friday night. Their upset bid fell just short, as Metro capitalized on a couple key turnovers to win a thrilling game by the score of 57-54.
After just falling short of pulling the upset over No. 1 Metro State on Friday night, the Mines men’s basketball team looked to rebound on Saturday evening against Regis. The Orediggers did just that, and in strong fashion as they defeated the Rangers 83-58.
The Colorado School of Mines women’s basketball team squared off against Metro State Friday night at home. The large crowd, given white t-shirts to support the team and create a “white-out”, did their best to will the Orediggers to victory, but they came up short as the buzzer sounded losing to rival Metro State 46-44.
Coming off of an 54-85 loss at Colorado Mesa on Friday night, the CSM women’s basketball team rebounded in strong fashion on Saturday night to take down Western State in Gunnison 75-47.
