Wrestling Loses to CSU-Pueblo 36-18

The Colorado School of Mines wrestling team squared off against CSU-Pueblo on the road Wednesday and suffered a 36-18 defeat. With the defeat, Mines drops to 0-2 on the season and 0-2 in the RMAC.

Mines captured three of the ten matches on the night, all by either pin or forfeit. The dual meet started out at 285 pounds with a win by CSU-Pueblo giving the Thunderwovles a 6-0 victory. Luis Gurule evened the score for Mines at six apiece with a forfeit in the 125 pound bout. The next two bouts, 133 and 141 pounds, ended in pins with Tim Urenda of CSU-Pueblo claiming the first match and Jacob Gerken of Mines getting a pin 5:43 into the bout in the second to once again even the score 12-12. CSU-Pueblo then took the next five Matches to take a 36-12 lead and all but wrapped up the match. The final match of the night was at 197 pounds, and Paul Wilson of Mines capped off the evening with a pin to bring the final score of the match to 36-18.

With the win on the night, freshman Jacob Gerken improved to 2-2, sophomore Luis Gurule improved to 11-2, and sophomore Paul Wilson moved to 10-3 on the season.
