On Friday, the 25th, at 6:30 pm, Marquis Theater will be hosting an event with amazing music from various artists including Into It. Over It., The World is a Beautiful Place and I am No Longer Afraid to Die, The Sidekick, and Pinegrove.
In an attempt to draw the Mines community into the real world, the Oredigger wants to let you know about underground concert with some awesome local and touring bands. This concert is for all ages, but there is a bar if you are over twenty one. The venue, the Marquis, is my favorite one in town. Located near downtown Denver, this venue has a reasonable price tag for each event and gives of the grungy underground feel I love.
The first headliner, Into It. Over It., has quite the cult following in the emo revival and punk scene, but do not let those genres scare you away. This band has shown much depth through a colorful career including many acoustic EP’s. The band is led by the guitarist and vocalist Evan Thomas Weiss, who has been credited to be a revolutionary in the Emo scene. Their recent album was written in a secluded cabin where the band locked themselves away for inspiration.
The other headliner, The World is a Beautiful Place and I am No Longer Afraid to Die, hails from Willimantic, Connecticut. Like the other headliner, The World Is pulls from an Emo background, yet somehow indie music vibes find their way into the mix. The band has a total of 8 members, but many do not tour full time. Perhaps the most excited song from this band is January 10, 2014, which makes an interesting commentary on a series of killings in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. The band links the killer, a young woman, to Diana the Hunter, a mythical character. All in all, a fascinating and powerful piece of music.
