Mines Little Theater Prepares for New Season

Mines’ Little Theater (MLT) is one of too few school supported creative groups on campus. A lot of people do not know what MLT is getting up to on a regular basis and that means that they are missing out on some exciting productions.

This semester, MLT is working on two separate Fall plays that are drastically different in story and tone but promise to be equally engaging and entertaining. The two plays being put on this fall are Flowers for Algernon and Almost, Maine.

Flowers for Algernon tells the story of a mentally challenged woman who undergoes a surgery that is intended to make her smarter. According to Abby Hentges, MLT President, it is an “Excellent and heart-wrenching story with intriguing implications about medical ethics”.

If any of that sparks interest, or fond memories of NHV classes, shows will be:

  • Friday, November 4th, at 7 PM
  • Saturday, November 5th, at 2 PM
  • Sunday, November 6th, at 7 PM

If this sounds too sad, thought provoking or the times simply do not work with this semester’s schedule, MLT will also be putting on Almost, Maine. Almost, Maine is a series of skits about falling in and out of love. The play is set in the small northern town of Almost, Maine, giving the play its name.

Almost Maine will be performed:

  • Thursday, November 3rd, at 7 PM
  • Saturday, November 5th, at 7 PM
  • Sunday, November 6th, at 2 PM

All shows cost $7 at the door with a Blastercard or $10 for non-students or faculty.

If you are looking to be involved in the club as more than just an audience member consider joining this fun filled organization. If this sounds like something for you, contact Abby Hentges, at ahentges@mines.edu.
