Star Wars fans thought it was too good to be true when the official twitter account for the new Obi Wan Kenobi series tweeted “Hello there.” early last Wednesday. They were absolutely right, it was better than too good to be true! A little while later, Star Wars released the full length trailer for their newest Disney Plus series Obi Wan Kenobi, much to the excitement of their passionate fan base.

The trailer, which quickly collected 8.5 million views in less than twenty four hours, has brought fans of the saga’s prequels out in full force. It’s no secret that prequels fans have been clamoring for a Disney Plus spinoff featuring Kenobi for years, and it certainly looks like they’re about to get their wish. The trailer looks promising in every way, from epic lightsaber duels to high inquisitors to the fact that the majority of the trailer was set to John William’s iconic “Duel of the Fates”. Fans of Obi Wan Kenobi look to be in for a treat!

Disney and Star Wars are doing their best to keep the details of the show underwraps until the series premiere on May 25th, but we already know a little bit about the show. We know that the series takes place somewhere between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope (though it is currently unclear where the series fits in relation to The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett) and that we will finally get to see what “Ben” of Tatoonie was up to for all those years. The trailer also offered us a quick glimpse of Kenobi watching a young Luke Skywalker from afar, confirming that he kept his promise to keep an eye on half of the Skywalker twins. The trailer also dropped some surprises, including shots of the Grand Inquisitor previously seen in Star Wars Rebels, a look at a new female Inquisitor, and some shots of what may turn out to be a new planet.

Fans are also excited because the series promises to reunite Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen as Obi Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader respectively. Curiously, the trailer did not offer any glimpses of Christensen as the infamous Vader, but all in good time. Obi Wan Kenobi looks like it may be shaping up to be one of the best Star Wars series of all time. Be sure to catch the series premiere on Disney Plus on May 25th!
