She is from the small town of Monument, Colorado and loves to spend her precious spare time outdoors. She has been with The Oredigger for three years and is currently Managing Editor. She is working on a degree in chemical engineering and will graduate in May.


The Season of Shopping

Today’s material society has all but forgotten the meaning of the holiday season. A time once meant for giving and helping others has become the biggest commercial holiday of the year. People stand in lines for hours to get the perfect gifts while ignoring the roots of this all-important time of the year.

“Communication is the most important skill scientists and engineers are never taught,” said Tim Miller during his presentation, “Mastering Public Presentations.” As the number of platforms for communication continues to increase in the digital age, this holds true now more than ever. As a result, scientists must learn to distribute their ideas to a wide audience and in a way that the public can understand.
