RMAC Championships

The 2014 RMAC Golf Championship took place this past week in Goodyear, Arizona and the Orediggers finished eighth out of nine teams. After the first day of competition, the Orediggers were sitting in sixth place after two rounds of play, but in the final round of play on day two, Mines went +13 for the round to fall to eighth. The number seven team in the nation, Western New Mexico, lead from start to finish and captured the RMAC championship.

The leading golfer for the Orediggers was Michael Lee (senior) who finished tied for sixteenth with a three round score of ( +11). Nick Berry (sophomore) finished 25th with a +13 for his three rounds of play and Kyle Miley (freshman) was +15 in a tie for 26th. Rounding out the scoring for Mines was senior Kyle Grassel (+22) and junior John Ahern (+26).

Also announced this week, Reigning RMAC player of the year winner, Michael Lee, garnered his second consecutive RMAC player of the year award and classmate Kyle Grassel garnered third team All-RMAC (third time he has earned the award). Lee earned his fourth straight all-conference nod. This was his second straight first team award.
