Group Exercise

Jessica GodinezClass Times: Monday 5:15- 6:15 pm & Wednesday 7-8 am

Instructor:  Jessica Godinez, a graduate student in Mechanical Engineering. She chose to bring Pop Pilates to Mines because the positive vibes of the class make it really fun to teach!

Class: If you are familiar with Blogilates, this branded course was created by the same woman. It is a hybrid mat Pilates class that is less focused on breath count and more so on staying with the beat of the music. In Jessica’s opinion this makes the class a little easier than traditional mat Pilates, as it is a “dance on the mat”. I attended the 7 am session which provided a much smaller student to instructor ratio. This brought a more personal feel.  The environment was comfortable and welcoming from the get-go despite not knowing anyone there. The class consists of thirteen different flow type tracks and is structured such that the students learn an exercise and then are asked to repeat it on a count in sync with the music. Each track focuses on a different aspect of personal fitness ranging from total body openers to abs and thigh specific exercises. Jessica hopes Pop Pilates can serve as a fun break from whatever is going on in your life. You leave feeling strong and happy to have gotten a good, hour long workout in. If you are looking for a fun change of pace, grab some friends and sweat it out with Jessica! (*writers note: I am writing this two days later and my abs are still sore.)
