Lady Orediggers Capture Third Straight Win

The Colorado School of Mines women’s basketball team squared off against Adams State on Friday night looking to claim their third straight victory. The Lady Orediggers used a strong defensive presence to grab the victory 54-40 at home.
In the first half, Mines held Adams State to 14.3% shooting including 0-10 from three, while shooting 39.1% themselves. Mines outscored the Grizzlies 22-12 in the first half, and never led by less than 10 points after halftime. Mines only trailed for 56 seconds in the game, coming at 2-0 early in the first half.

Women’s Basketball Sneaks past UCCS on Late Three-point Play

The Colorado School of Mines women’s basketball team squared off against UCCS on Friday and ended their four game losing streak in exciting fashion. Thanks to a three-point play by senior Allie Grazulis in the waning seconds, Mines pulled off the 55-54 road victory. Mines never trailed by more than two points in the game, and their largest lead was nine points, less than five minutes into the second half (33-24).

Regular season champs stumble in RMAC tourney play

The Colorado School of Mines volleyball team entered the week ranked sixteenth in the nation and were prepared to make a run at the RMAC tournament championship. After a win in Tuesday’s opening round over Fort Lewis, Mines’s hopes of capturing both regular season and postseason titles came to an end against Adams State, but the lady Orediggers are still in good shape to make the NCAA Championships as the top eight in each region make the tourney. Mines was ranked No.2 in this week’s regional ranking.

Cross Country Cruises to top-five Finish with Three All-Americans

The Colorado School of Mines men’s cross country team traveled to Spokane, Washington this past weekend and left with a top-five finish and three repeat All-Americans. This was the fifth top-five finish in as many years for the men’s cross country team after their second place showing last year. RMAC rivals Adams State and Western State finished first and fourth respectively, with Grand Valley State taking second, and Augustana third.

Volleyball ends its Regular Season With a Win on Senior Night

The No. 13 Colorado School of Mines volleyball team finished their regular season with a road game at Colorado Christian and a home game against UCCS. In their first match after claiming the regular season RMAC title, the Lady Orediggers could not keep their 15 match winning streak going against Colorado Christian (18-10, 16-6 RMAC), losing 3-0. The result was different on senior night as the Orediggers dispatched the pesky UCCS Mountain Lions 3-1.

Lady Orediggers Open their Season at the 30th Annual Al Kaly Shriners’ Classic

On Friday night, the Colorado School of Mines women’s basketball team opened their season on the road against Oklahoma Christian, and despite a seven point halftime lead, the Lady Orediggers lost a close one, 58-62.
After 10 minutes of game time, both teams were tied at 10 until No. 10 Laura Tyree made two straight buckets to give the Orediggers a five point cushion. The Lady Orediggers led by as many as nine points in the first half and held a seven point advantage (30-23) at halftime, but OCU scored the first four points of the second half to gain some momentum. For much of the second half, both teams traded points and with 11:35 to go, OCU took the lead at 37-36. The Orediggers tied the game up at 42, with 7:49 to play, but were never able to retake the lead down the stretch. The final score was Mines 58 and OCU 62.
