Eating cheap at Mines

Are you out of meal swipes since you used them on ice cream at Mines Market? Are you sick of making ramen every day? Are you tired of the food at Mines Market? Do you want free food? One of the best ways to find free food on campus is to go to a club or informational meeting. Check the Daily Blast for events serving free food. You can also ask friends and other classmates if they are a part of organizations that serve food at events. If you need help finding more events for free food, there is a GroupMe called “Hungry Orediggers” dedicated to this purpose. Members will post places that are or will be serving free food. For example, some professional organizations such as the American Society of Civil Engineers hold presentations by industry professionals with free food provided. Other examples include tailgates before football games as well as school events like Celebration of Mines. You can join the Group Me by going to https://web.groupme.com/join_group/47075452/0nU3Io. If you are looking for discounts on food around campus text MinesDining to 182257 to get text alerts for the restaurants on campus. This can help you maximize your Munch Money. Right now the frozen yogurt machine in Brown hall has a buy one get one free deal. You will receive messages for different restaurants including Sub Connections and Wow Cafe.

In all seriousness, if you actually need free food, Fighting Hunger at Mines serves fresh food in front of Alderson Hall on Mondays and Wednesdays. Follow Fighting Hunger at Mines on Facebook and Instagram for more information and opportunities to volunteer. “Blaster’s Basket” is also a food bank-style option located on the first floor of the Student Center
