Never Fear, E-Days is Here!!!

Calling all Orediggers! The one-of-a-kind, tons of fun, original Mines-centric celebration is back and better than ever!  E-Days will be taking place all throughout this weekend, and we can promise you won’t want to miss out on any of the fun. Whether you’re looking to compete in the cardboard boat race and trebuchet competitions or enjoy one or all of the amazing concerts, E-Days has something for everyone and we can’t wait to have some fun!

E-Days has been a Mines tradition since 1934 and this year’s celebration, officially deemed OdyssE-Days back in March, will see the event returned to its full, in person glory after two years of COVID related delays and restrictions. We will also finally see the return of events that haven’t happened in over two years, like the infamous Ore Cart Pull. The Mines Activity Council (MAC) has also managed to secure the Mines community some excellent concerts and events, including comedians  Robby Hoffman and Opey Olagbaju on Thursday and MisterWives on Saturday! And of course, E-Days will conclude with a fireworks display orchestrated by our very own Mines Pyrotechnics Team. This just might be the best E-Days ever!

Almost all of the E-Days events are free to Mines students, but the shows and concerts will require a ticket. Don’t worry, there’s still time to get tickets required for the concerts and shows! You can purchase tickets for the Thursday Comedians, the Friday Concert, and the Saturday Concert individually or you can purchase an E-Days packet. This year’s E-Days packet includes tickets to all of the ticketed events, an E-Days T-Shirt, stickers, an OdyssE-Days bandana, and a fanny pack! You can purchase tickets or packets from the MAC website (http://www.minesactivitiescouncil.com/edays) and MAC should have a few in person sales events all throughout this week. Be sure to get your tickets and packets sooner rather than later!

We at The Oredigger highly encourage everyone to get out and have some fun this weekend! If you aren’t planning on going to the concert or to see the comedians, the cardboard boat race is always a ton of fun to watch and the carnival is always worth going to (did we mention there will be free food?). There will be several Tesla Coil demonstrations (come on, how cool is that?!) and many of the fraternities and sororities put on accompanying events all throughout the weekend. Trust us, take a break from your studies and homework, grab your friends, pick a couple of events to attend, and get ready to have a helluva good time!

Thursday, April 21st

• Mac n Phis by ΑΦ (11:00am-2:00pm, Kafadar Commons)
• Twists and Teas by ΚΑΘ (1:00-4:00pm, Plaza) –  Kappa Alpha Theta will be selling soft pretzels and boba tea (yum!)on Pedestrian Plaza! All proceeds benefit Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and the Theta foundation.
• Amazing Race by ΣΚ (1-4:00pm)
• Comedian Event (6:30pm, Bunker Auditorium) – Comedians Robby Hoffman and Opey Olagbaju will be performing! You need a ticket for this event, so be sure to purchase an individual ticket or the E-Days packet!
• Silent Disco (8:00-11:00pm, Kafadar Commons, weather location – Friedhoff) 

Friday, April 22nd

• Ore-Cart Pull (7:30am ,ORC) Come and see E-Days officially declared in the state of Colorado! The first people to arrive for the event will get a t-shirt and free burritos!
• Tesla Coil Demonstration (12:00pm & 2:00pm, ELEPHANT)
• Twists and Teas by ΚΑΘ (1:00-4:00pm Plaza) – Kappa Alpha Theta will be selling soft pretzels and boba tea (yum!)on Pedestrian Plaza! All proceeds benefit Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and the Theta foundation.
• Field Day (2:30pm, North IM Field)
• Trebuchet Competition (2:30pm, Q Lot) 
• Virtual Trivia with $200 in Prizes! (4:00 pm)
• Super Smash Bro’s Esports Tournament (7:00 pm) 
• Friday Night Event (7:00pm, D Lot) – Opener: Student DJs, Headliner: Mob Rich. You need a ticket for this event, so be sure to purchase an individual ticket or the E-Days packet!

Saturday, April 23rd

• Mining Games (8:00am, West Campus Road) – Come and try your hand at some old fashioned mining games!
• Cardboard Boat Race (9:00am, Clear Creek) If you’re not racing your own boat, come and watch all of the teams race theirs!
• Car Show (10:00am, CTLM Lot)
• Carnival (12:00pm, D Lot) – Come play some games, win some prizes, and enjoy some free food! Mines students get in for free, community members are $5 per person, and those 21+ can purchase a beer wristband for $5!
