Community Spotlight: Golden Bowl

College students seem to be forever in need of cheap, fun activities. While many places offer exactly that, Golden Bowl is one of the best ways to have fun on any night of the week.

Golden Bowl is located off of South Golden Road across from the high school, and has been there since the 1950s. While it used to have a Chinese restaurant located inside, it was recently changed to Rosie’s Diner, which serves are variety of American, Mexican, and Italian food. Also inside Golden Bowl are Louie’s Tavern, a small snack bar, and 24 lanes.

Golden Bowl is involved in the community in several ways, one of which is by hosting the annual “ScramBowl for Lights,” which helps put up the lights throughout the city. They also sponsor the Golden High Bowling Team and host a variety of leagues.

Golden Bowl’s prices allow for college students to have a lot of fun without spending a lot of money. Shoe rentals are just $3, and the prices per game vary throughout the week. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 – 4:00 PM feature $0.50 games. On college night from 9:00 PM – 12:00 AM on Mondays and 9:00 PM – 1:00 AM on Wednesdays host $1 games. During other times, it is generally $2.75 a game. For the same price as a movie, they offer hours of active fun.
When winter storms roll in, Golden Bowl is the perfect place to bring friends, with food, drinks, and a lot of fun.
