Orediggers crush WSU on the road

After suffering only their second loss of the season on Friday night, the 11th ranked Oredigger men’s basketball rebounded in strong fashion on Saturday, defeating Fort Lewis 88-70.
Riding a three game winning streak into Saturday night’s game against Fort Lewis, the Lady Orediggers had high hopes of knocking off the RMAC’s fourth place team. However, Mines was not able to secure their fourth consecutive win, falling to the Skyhawks 75-60.
The Colorado School of Mines women’s basketball team squared off against Adams State on Friday night looking to claim their third straight victory. The Lady Orediggers used a strong defensive presence to grab the victory 54-40 at home.
In the first half, Mines held Adams State to 14.3% shooting including 0-10 from three, while shooting 39.1% themselves. Mines outscored the Grizzlies 22-12 in the first half, and never led by less than 10 points after halftime. Mines only trailed for 56 seconds in the game, coming at 2-0 early in the first half.
The No. 11 Colorado School of Mines men’s basketball team ran into an extremely hot shooting team Friday night, and were upset 89-75. Adams State (9-6, 6-6 RMAC) shot a blistering 55.6% from the field and forced Mines into 20 turnovers. Mines ( 14-2, 10-2 RMAC) was led in scoring by Trevor Wages who had 17 points on the night to go along with 13 rebounds, one block and one steal.
The Colorado School of Mines women’s basketball team squared off against UCCS on Friday and ended their four game losing streak in exciting fashion. Thanks to a three-point play by senior Allie Grazulis in the waning seconds, Mines pulled off the 55-54 road victory. Mines never trailed by more than two points in the game, and their largest lead was nine points, less than five minutes into the second half (33-24).
After putting a halt to a four game skid in exciting fashion on Friday night at UCCS, the CSM women’s basketball squad traveled up to CSU-Pueblo on Saturday evening in search of their second consecutive victory. Behind a solid night from beyond the three point arc, the Lady Orediggers were able to upend the RMAC’s number two team on the road, 55-47.
The No. 13 School of Mines Men’s basketball team went on the road Friday night to UCCS and captured the 77-54 victory bringing them to 13-1 on the season (9-1 in the RMAC). The Orediggers used a stifling defense and all five starters in double digits to regroup after their first loss of the season.
Shortly after the Lady Orediggers basketball team pulled the upset over CSU-Pueblo Saturday night, the 13th ranked Oredigger men’s basketball cruised to a 91-57 win of their own over the Thunderwolves.
The Oredigger basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season after going on the road and taking down the South Dakota School of Mines 79-65 on Saturday night.
