Orediggers rough up Adams State

The Oredigger football team improved to 7-3 on the season with a 45-10 trouncing of Adams State this Saturday.

Coming into the game, both teams held records of 6-3, making Adams State one of the tougher opponents expected on Mines’ schedule. However, the Oredigger offense went off and put up 45 points while the defense held strong and only allowed 10 points from the Grizzlies.

As the only game left on CSM’s schedule, next week’s contest at home vs. Chadron State will be huge for the RMAC’s final standings. Chadron is currently 7-1 in the RMAC while Mines is at 6-2 after today’s win, meaning the winner of next week’s matchup will end the regular season in second place behind undefeated CSU-Pueblo. This is potentially important, as the second place finisher in the RMAC would have a slim chance at making the 24-team field in the NCAA Division II Championship Tournament.

The Orediggers regular season finale against Chadron State kicks off at noon here in Golden on Saturday, November 16th.
