Athlete of the Week: Taylor Accardi, Senior, Football, Mechanical

For most football fans, it can be very frustrating to witness their team fail to convert a third down play, and disappointing to watch the punting unit trot onto the field. This is usually the time when fans take a big “sigh” and lean back in their seats. But thanks to pre-season All-American punter Taylor Accardi, the experience is nearly the opposite for Oredigger football fans. The initial disappointment of a failed third down leads instead to fans sitting up in their seats, waiting in eager anticipation to see what will unfold, which usually ends in a booming punt that can shift the entire momentum of the game. And all from a punter.

Mines runs past BHSU in RMAC opener 42-19

The Orediggers were rude hosts Saturday, spoiling the RMAC debut of the Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets with a 42-19 win at Campbell Field in Golden. BHSU (0-2 overall, 0-1 RMAC) started off their first conference game well, forcing a fumble on Mines’ first offensive series and converting the turnover into a touchdown to take an early 7-0 lead. But, after trading punts on the next two possessions, Mines (3-0, 1-0) would respond as Oredigger quarterback Matt Brown found David Pawelek for a 10 yard touchdown on the final play of the first quarter to even the score at 7-7.

Dear Tex, What music is upcoming?

Question: Who is the next up and coming musical artist?
-RB

Answer:
RB,

I assume that, by trying to find who the next up is and coming artist, you are trying to impress your friends with your musical knowledge and follow the hipster trend of following every artist before they were “hot.” Despite the hipster inclinations, I will give you what’s going down. In post-summer 2012, there is a slump. Every artist wishes to get their good stuff out before the summer begins.

Minds at Mines: Breakfast

College students often skip breakfast or do not eat well in the morning. Skipping breakfast can be bad for students’ health as it provides the necessary nutrients to be active during the day. Surprisingly after asking a few questions, it appears that students actually eat a decent breakfast on Saturdays, at least. For this week, Minds at Mines asked students, “What did you have for breakfast?”
