Men’s soccer falls out of NCAA tournament with loss to Incarnate Word

The No. 19 Colorado School of Mines Men’s Soccer Team took on No. 13 Incarnate Word in the second round of the NCAA Division II soccer tournament. The two teams faced off earlier in the season with Mines earning the 3-2 victory back in September. Saturday, with a mixture of snow and rain falling for most of the match, the Cardinals of Incarnate Word earned a bit of revenge, coming out on the winning side of a 4-2 contest to move on to face Regis in the third round of the tourney.

Mines narrowly falls 1-0 to Regis

The Colorado School of Mines men’s soccer team took on No. 3 Regis University looking to slow down the high-powered Ranger offense that leads all of Division II in scoring. Mines did just that, holding a Regis team that is avergaing nearly four goals per game to just one score on the night. But it was not enough as Regis held on for the 1-0 win in dreary weather Friday at the CSM Soccer Stadium.

Orediggers shut out Metro State 1-0

The Oredigger Men’s Soccer team was looking for their fourth straight victory Friday night as they hosted cross town rival Metro State. Led by strong defense and impressive goalkeeping, the Orediggers earned that fourth straight win with a 1-0 victory, improving their record to 4-1-2 on the year and 1-0-2 in the RMAC. The highlight of the night came in the 18th minute when freshman Joe Haines scored the lone goal of the game and his first career goal as an Oredigger.

Men’s Soccer falls to West Texas A&M 2-4.

The No. 11 ranked School of Mines Men’s soccer team played host to No. 24 West Texas A&M Friday night in what was certain to be a closely contested game between two ranked opponents. Both teams played at a high level all night, but in the end it was not enough as West Texas outlasted the Orediggers 4-2 at the CSM Soccer Stadium in Golden.

Women’s soccer defeats Washburn 3-0.

After winning their last two games by a combined total of 16-0, the Mines Women’s soccer team was looking for its third straight win Saturday against the Washburn Blues. Coupled with an overwhelming offensive attack, the Lady Orediggers turned in a strong defensive showing shutting out the Blues 3-0 and improving to 3-1-0 for the season.
